School Partners Abroad is a reciprocal educational and cultural, 2 to 3 week, exchange between two partner schools, one in the United States and one in Japan. For the students, the exchange consists of living with a host family, attending classes at the host community's school and participating in extracurricular and community activities.
Generally, the most influential and long lasting part of the exchange is the homestay. Students tend to form emotional attachments to the host sister or brother and their families which often continue a long time after the program is over. In addition, students receive full immersion in Japanese culture, constant interaction with Japanese students, teachers and families and a comprehensive understanding of the customs and traditions of Japan.
